Srinagar, July 8: As the heavy rain has lashed the whole Jammu and Kashmir and water level is increasing in river Jhelum, chief engineer flood control department Kashmir has asked his officers to remain on high alert.
The advisory has come after incessant rain is continuing and Jhelum is receiving huge flow of water from its tributaries.
In a communication sent to officers of the department, the chief engineer Naresh Kumar wrote, “In view of the forecast for heavy rain predicted by IMD, all the flood zonal committees are directed to remain on alert in their respective jurisdiction and monitor the situation eagerly. They will keep the flood fighting machinery in readiness for their immediate mobilization in the event of any flood-like situation.”

Meanwhile, Bandipora administration has issued an advisory to the people not to venture out without any purpose as water level is increasing in the river Jhelum, Sukar lake and other water bodies due to rain.
They have asked people to keep vigil near areas which are prone to flash floods.
