Budgam, July 14: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Srinagar Campus at Ompora, Budgam, on Tuesday organised its annual Graduation Show 2026, “Fashionova – Design Showcase and Bottomline,” highlighting the creativity, innovation, and academic achievements of the graduating batch.
The event was graced by Ms. Avny Lavasa, IAS, Secretary to the Government, Transport Department, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, as the Chief Guest. She was received by Prof. Monika Gupta, Director, NIFT Srinagar, who welcomed the dignitaries and introduced them to the exhibition showcasing the students’ final-year projects.
During her visit, Ms. Lavasa toured the exhibition stalls, interacted with graduating students, and appreciated the quality, originality, and professionalism reflected in their work. The showcase featured a diverse range of projects from the Departments of Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, Fashion and Lifestyle Accessory Design, and Fashion Management Studies, demonstrating innovation, sustainability, market relevance, and contemporary design thinking.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Lavasa congratulated the graduating students and encouraged them to use design as a catalyst for innovation, sustainable development, entrepreneurship, and social impact while remaining connected to India’s rich cultural and craft heritage. She also commended NIFT Srinagar for nurturing future design professionals capable of contributing meaningfully to the country’s growing creative economy.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Monika Gupta, Director, NIFT Srinagar, congratulated the graduating students, faculty members, and staff for their dedication and commitment throughout the academic journey. She said the Graduation Show reflects the institute’s strong emphasis on innovation, research, industry engagement, and design excellence while reinforcing NIFT’s commitment to producing socially responsible and globally competent professionals.
Around 100 graduating students presented their final collections, research projects, and design concepts before industry experts, academicians, government officials, and members of the design fraternity. Their work received appreciation for its creativity, technical excellence, and practical relevance.
The graduating students described Fashionova 2026 as a significant milestone in their academic journey, stating that the event provided them with an excellent platform to showcase their talent and interact with distinguished guests and industry professionals.
The annual Graduation Show marked the culmination of years of academic learning, creative exploration, and practical training, celebrating the students’ transition into the professional world. The event also reaffirmed NIFT Srinagar’s commitment to promoting design education, innovation, and the preservation of India’s rich artisanal and cultural heritage through contemporary design practices.
