Srinagar, July 8: As protests against smart meters continue in pockets in Kashmir valley, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today outrightly rejected demand of change in smart meters.
He said that there is no alternative to smart meters as already J&K’s power debt has increased to Rs 31000 crore.
The LG was addressing a press conference here and he talked about several issues concerning the Union Territory.
He also announced 10 kg additional ration at subsidized rates for priority households of J&K under the Prime Minister’s Food supplementation Scheme for priority households. He said that the additional ration will be available at Rs 25 per kg.
Replying to a question on recruitment being done by SSB, he said that few matters are subjudice and once the decision from Court comes, exams will be held. For fresh posts, he said that within 15 days dates will be announced.
He also hoped that once the weather improves Jammu-Srinagar national highway will be thrown open and Amarnath yatra will resume.
