Srinagar, July 8: Heavy rain has lashed the entire Jammu and Kashmir which has disturbed the normal life all across the Union Territory.
The surface road connectivity between the capital cities has been snapped at various places and prominently at Mehar cafeteria and Panthal area where landslides have blocked the National Highway 44.
At several other places, shooting stones and small landslides have also put the movement on the highway to the halt.
According to the traffic department, Mughal road, SSG road and Sinthan road are also blocked and no traffic movement is being allowed on any stretch. People have been advised not to plan their journey and remain indoors if they don’t have any emergency work.
The Indian Meterological Department had yesterday warned of moderate to heavy rainfall all across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh from July 7 to 9. Since last evening, rain had started at most of the places and this morning the downpour has become heavier and heavier..
Meanwhile, the annual Amarnath yatra was also suspended since yesterday due to the bad weather and no pilgrim was being allowed to move from Jammu towards Kashmir and from Baltal and Pahalgam towards the cave shrine. Security forces have been kept on high alert to meet any kind of situation due to the heavy rains.
