Srinagar, May 10: The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast for widespread light to moderate rain across Jammu and Kashmir on May 11 and 12. While the next 24 hours are expected to remain generally dry, isolated light rain is a possibility in certain areas of J&K.
According to a meteorological department official, partly to generally cloudy weather with light rain/snow in higher reaches is anticipated at many places on May 11, accompanied by thunder, lightning, and gusty winds in some areas.
On May 12, generally cloudy weather with light to moderate rain and snow in higher reaches is expected at most places, again with the possibility of thunder, lightning, and gusty winds in select areas.
From May 13 onwards, partly to generally cloudy weather is anticipated with light rain at a few places. However, dry weather is expected to prevail from May 14 to 17.
In terms of temperature, there has been a notable rise across various regions. Srinagar recorded a low of 13.8°C, Qazigund 10.4°C, Pahalgam 7.1°C, Kokernag 11.4°C, Kupwara 9.5°C, and Gulmarg 8.5°C. Meanwhile, Jammu registered a low of 25.0°C. These temperatures are above normal for this time of year, indicating a warming trend across the region.
