Bandipora, June 25: A sister today sacrificed her life to save the drowning boy in Sumbal area of Bandipora district today when the boy slipped into the river Jhelum.
After seeing his brother Nazakat drowning, Nuzhat jumped into the river to save him but unfortunately lost her life.
Meanwhile, Nuzhat’s brother was saved by people and shifted him to local hospital from where he was referred to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar.
The incident occurred in Shatulpora area of Sumbal this morning.
Giving details, locals told Current Matters that the boy was taking a bath near the river and slipped into the water. “After witnessing her brother drowning, Nuzhat jumped into the river but the waves took her along and lost the life,” said eye witnesses.
“Immediately a rescue operation was launched in which Nazakat was rescued whereas Nuzhat drowned. After many efforts, the body of Buzhat was retrieved,” said a local.
The incident has left everyone in shock in the village but people all over were praising the deceased Nuzhat for her love towards her brother and sacrificing the life to save him.
