Jammu, August 16: Since the tomatoes prices in India have risen tremendously, major burger outlets in India have scrapped tomatoes from its wraps and burgers and customers are not happy with the decision.
After McDonald’s removed tomatoes from burgers, now the Burger King has also taken the same decision which is not going well with the customers.
“Why are there no tomatoes in my burgers?” reads a question on the support page of Burger King India’s web site. The answer states its Indian franchisee follows “very high standards of quality” and tomatoes will be back soon. “We request your patience and understanding,” it says.
Scrapping tomatoes from burgers and wraps has come after its price skyrocketed and still it is not reachable of common people. This has happened as monsoon rains disrupted crop and supply chains – although they have since eased.
To manage the supply crisis, India has started tomato imports from Nepal, and has organised vans to distribute the staple at cheaper rates across the nation, with social media posts showing huge queues.
