Jammu, August 16: The Indian Army today dedicated an Open Gymnasium to people of Jandyal village of Jammu district today which was aimed at strengthening the ties between people and Army.
The Open Gymnasium was inaugurated under the banner of Operation Sadbhavana.
The inauguration ceremony, held on August 16, witnessed the presence of Anjali Sharma, the sarpanch of lower Jandyal, who inaugurated the gymnasium.
Giving details, PRO Defence Jammu Suneel Bartwal said that the event drew participation from various sections of the village, including around 80 villagers and children, who came together to celebrate this important milestone.
“The establishment of the Open Gymnasium not only emphasizes the Army’s commitment to physical health but also underlines its dedication to holistic development and sustainable growth. By providing essential health and fitness infrastructure within the village premises, the Indian Army aims to encourage healthy lifestyles and deter detrimental habits such as drug and alcohol abuse, particularly among the youth,” he said.
People expressed their appreciation for the initiative, highlighting its potential to empower the rural population through improved health and fitness facilities.
“The gymnasium’s availability within the village was seen as a significant step towards promoting a culture of well-being and vitality. The positive response from the community reflects the success of Operation Sadbhavana in bridging the gap between the Indian Army and the local populace. Such initiatives not only enhance physical fitness but also strengthen the social fabric and create a sense of unity and pride among the villagers,” the defence spokesman added.
He said that this endeavor marks a new chapter in the Indian Army’s ongoing efforts to contribute to the development and upliftment of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Through community-focused initiatives like the Open Gymnasium, the Indian Army continues to build bridges of trust, goodwill, and partnership for a brighter future.
