Srinagar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended three individuals, including a Patwari from Halqa Soal, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, along with a property dealer and a middleman, for accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000.
According to a statement, a case was registered against a property dealer from Village Jib, Tehsil and District Udhampur, following allegations that he demanded a bribe of Rs 40,000 on behalf of the Patwari for issuing a Fard (revenue extract) for property being purchased by the complainant’s father.
The CBI orchestrated a triple-trap operation in which the property dealer was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant. Subsequently, a middleman was apprehended while accepting the bribe from the property dealer. Finally, the Patwari was caught accepting the bribe from the middleman.
The CBI conducted searches at the residential premises of the accused. All three individuals will be presented before the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption (CBI Cases), Jammu, today as the investigation continues—(KNO).
