Bandipora, August 9: The district administration Bandipora today took a major step towards infusing patriotism among people by organizing the first phase of Meri Maati Mera Desh Silaphalakam ceremonies across 28 panchayats.
The events were organised by the department of rural development and panchayati Raj institutions in collaboration with grassroots level representatives.
These events were aimed at celebrating indomitable spirit and supreme sacrifice of brave hearts who fought valiantly to protect the sovereignty of the country.
The Silaphalakam Ceremonies, which translate to “Salute to the Soil,” serve as a poignant tribute to the martyrs. The ceremonies involve the distribution of soil from the graves of the fallen soldiers, symbolizing their connection to the homeland and the eternal bond they share with the nation.
These events were graced by students, local people and government officials who adorned with tricolor flags, patriotic banners and floral decorations.
The events saw cultural performances, patriotic songs, and recitals.
