Budgam: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Budgam on Thursday organized a vibrant and colourful district-level cultural competition as part of the ongoing National Youth Festival 2025 celebrations. The event, themed “Viksit Bharat – Cultural Innovation”, was held at the District Headquarters Budgam under the overall supervision of DYSSO Budgam, Ghulam Hassan Lone.

The festival aimed to promote creativity, patriotism, and cultural unity among youth while providing them a platform to display their artistic and intellectual potential. The event witnessed overwhelming participation from young people aged between 15 and 29 years, including both school-going and out-of-school youth.

More than one hundred participants competed across multiple categories, including Storytelling, Painting, Writing, Poetry, Dance, and Kashir Chakri, showcasing the vibrant cultural diversity and heritage of Kashmir. Each performance reflected the enthusiasm, talent, and creativity of Budgam’s young generation, making the event a lively celebration of art and youth energy.

Several dignitaries and officials from different departments attended the event, including Zonal Physical Officer Tariq Ahmad Dar and Incharge Activity Ghulam Hassan Khanday, who appreciated the young participants for their outstanding efforts. They emphasized that such programmes not only nurture the hidden potential of youth but also help build confidence and promote a sense of community identity.

Speaking on the occasion, DYSSO Budgam Ghulam Hassan Lone highlighted the department’s commitment to providing youth with positive avenues for personal and cultural development. He said, “Our aim is to give every young person a platform where they can express themselves, explore their creative abilities, and contribute to a culturally strong and developed India.”

At the concluding ceremony, winners and outstanding performers were felicitated with trophies and certificates of appreciation. A panel of judges drawn from the Education Department evaluated the performances and shortlisted top talents who will now represent District Budgam at the UT-level competitions.

On the sidelines of the event, Manjeet Singh Gill, a cultural activist and guest at the programme, while speaking to the media, praised the Youth Services & Sports Department for organizing such inclusive and motivating events. He said, “The youth of Budgam have immense talent. With proper guidance and encouragement, they can make the district proud at the UT and national levels.”

The day-long festival concluded with a vote of thanks extended to all participants, teachers, and officials for their active involvement in making the event a grand success.
