Current Matters
Srinagar : Since the Supreme Court of India has constituted the five-judge-bench to hear the Article 370 petitions on July 11, one of the petitioners and IAS officer Shah Faesal has disassociated himself from the matter.
He has termed abrogation of Article 370 a “thing of the past”.
Taking to twitter to express his opinion on the matter, Shah Faesal wrote, “370, for many Kashmiris like me, is a thing of the past. Jhelum and Ganga have merged in the great India Ocean for good. There is no going back. There is only marching forward.”
He attached a picture of G20 sign board with Welcome to Kashmir written on it and Dal Lake on the background with his tweet.
Faesal alongwith other a dozen petitioners had challenged the abrogation of Article 370 and reorganization Act of Jammu and Kashmir by government of India in Supreme Court in 2019 after central government had abrogated the Article 370 on August 5, 2019. This Article alongside Article 35A were giving J&K a special status where land and jobs were exclusive rights of permanent residents of J&K and no outsider, including West Pakistan Refugees living in J&K, couldn’t have applied for jobs and bought land.
As on one side National conference and PDP have welcomed the constitution of bench to hear the petitions, Shah Faesal and disassociated himself.
Yesterday, former Chief Ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah had expressed their opinion on twitter on constitution on a five-judge-bench of Supreme Court.
“Welcome Hon’ble SC’s decision to finally hear petitions pending since 2019 challenging the illegal abrogation of Article 370. I hope justice is upheld and delivered for the people of J&K. The SC ruling on Article 370 maintained that the provision can be abrogated only on the recommendation of the J&K constituent Assembly,” Mehbooba had tweeted.
Omar also wrote on twitter, “Finally the bench is constituted. I hope look forward to the hearings beginning in right earnest now.”
