Bandipora, September 8: Secretary Rural Development Department (RDD) Tariq Hussain Zargar today assessed progress and implementation of various developmental works in Bandipora.
He was on tour to the district today and was accompanied by a team of RDD officials including Assistant Development Commissioner Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, ACP Bandipora Muzafar Ahamd, BDO Arin Dr Shariq Iqbal.
The Secretary on the occasion was informed about the accelerating rural development across the region. During the visit, he visited toured multiple blocks and villages within the district, including Sumbal and Arin Bandipora.During the tour, the Secretary interacted with local residents, Panchayat members and officials involved in the implementation of RDD schemes.
Tariq Ahmad stressed on the the importance of inclusive development and the need to ensure that the benefits of RDD schemes reach every section of society, including marginalized communities.
During the visit, the Secretary inspected ongoing projects in the district related to road, PMAY, SBM, construction, electrification and sanitation besides Amritsarovar. He stressed on the quality infrastructure for enhancing the overall living standards of rural residents.
Secretary Tariq Ahmad reviewed the progress of employment generation programs under RDD, such as MGNREGA and discussed strategies to enhance job opportunities for the rural workforce.
He directed the Block Development Officers (BDOs) and RDD staff to actively raise awareness among the general public about the importance of solid and liquid waste management. He stressed upon the concerned authorities to adopt a participatory approach by taking all stakeholders on board.
On the occasion, the Secretary expressed satisfaction with the progress made in Bandipora district and said that the department is committed for comprehensive rural development.
