The action has been taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, specifically Section 68-F, which allows for the attachment of properties derived from or used in illicit drug activities.

One of the most significant seizures includes a single-storey residential house along with one kanal of land at Sallar, Anantnag, belonging to Bashir Ahmad Wani, son of Abdul Aziz Wani. Wani is involved in Case FIR No. 65/2018 registered at Police Station Srigufwara, which pertains to the recovery of a substantial quantity of poppy straw. The estimated value of the attached property stands at Rs 70 lakh.

In another case registered under FIR No. 35/2025 at Police Station Bijbehara, Anantnag Police attached a residential house and a vehicle (Reg. No. JK02AV-1235) owned by Tajdar Amin Khan, a resident of Goriwan Bijbehara, currently residing in Karewa Colony. Additionally, a shopping complex belonging to Bilal Ahmad Itoo of Gund Nasir, Bijbehara, was also seized.

Further, in connection with Case FIR No. 213/2024 under the NDPS Act at Police Station Bijbehara, a vehicle (Reg. No. HR16L-3657) registered in the name of Harjinder Singh, a resident of Mubarak Pur, Kapurthala in Punjab, was also attached.

These enforcement measures, part of an intensified anti-drug campaign, are aimed at dismantling the financial infrastructure of drug traffickers and depriving them of assets acquired through unlawful means. Officials stated that such firm actions not only weaken the narcotics supply chain but also serve as a strong deterrent against those who continue to profit from this illegal trade.

The police have reiterated their zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking and affirmed that the crackdown will continue in full force. [KNT]
