Doda: In a charged election rally in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a fierce attack on the Congress, National Conference (NC), and People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He accused the three parties, often led by prominent political families in the region, of promoting dynastic politics that he claimed has stunted the development of Jammu and Kashmir for decades.

Modi stated that these “three political families” have prioritized personal and family interests over the region’s welfare, leaving Jammu and Kashmir in a state of underdevelopment. This criticism follows a consistent line of attack by Modi, who has previously blamed the same parties for holding back progress in the Union Territory.

In his address, the Prime Minister framed the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir as a pivotal moment for the region’s future. He described it as a choice between the established political families, which he said represent the status quo, and the aspirations of the region’s youth, who seek new opportunities and growth.

Highlighting his government’s achievements, Modi pointed to the successful conduct of Panchayat, Block Development Council (BDC), and District Development Council (DDC) elections as proof of his administration’s commitment to empowering grassroots democracy. He emphasized that these reforms have given a voice to marginalized communities and the younger generation, long ignored by the traditional political elite.

The Prime Minister further accused the Congress, NC, and PDP of stifling new leadership and leaving Jammu and Kashmir “hollow from within.” He argued that the political dominance of these families weakened the region internally and made it more vulnerable to external threats.

Referring to former Union Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde’s past remarks about security fears in the region, Modi contrasted the previous situation with the current, stating that improved security has allowed democracy and rule of law to flourish.

This rally marks Modi’s first major campaign event in Jammu and Kashmir since the Election Commission announced the election schedule for the region. With his sharp criticism, the Prime Minister signaled that the battle for Jammu and Kashmir would be a contest between old political powerhouses and his vision for a “New India.”
