Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday voiced concern over the reported withdrawal of security cover at Nawa-e-Subh, the Srinagar headquarters of the National Conference, stating that the move came as a surprise to him.
Addressing reporters in Jammu, Abdullah said he had not been officially informed about any such decision by the administration. He termed the development “unexpected,” particularly in light of the recent attack on National Conference president Farooq Abdullah.
“Hardly a week has passed since the attack on Farooq Sahib, and now security has reportedly been withdrawn,” he said, emphasizing the timing of the move.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Farooq Abdullah frequently visits the Nawa-e-Subh office, often once or twice a week, making adequate security arrangements essential.
“I have not received any formal communication regarding this. I expect clarity from the administration soon,” Omar Abdullah added.
The development has raised questions about security preparedness, especially considering recent incidents involving senior political figures in the region.
