Winter Control Room, Additional Machinery and Snow Clearance Centres Established in Magam and Beerwah to Ensure Public Convenience: MLA Beerwah

Budgam: MLA Beerwah, Dr. Mohammad Shafi Ahmad Wani, chaired an important and comprehensive review meeting at the Town Hall, Magam, to assess and further strengthen winter preparedness arrangements across the Beerwah Assembly Constituency. During the meeting, Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani emphasized the vital importance of advance planning, inter-departmental coordination, and timely execution of measures to ensure uninterrupted delivery of essential services to the public during winter. He conducted a detailed, sector-wise review of preparedness related to electricity supply, drinking water, road connectivity, healthcare services, food and ration distribution, education, and snow clearance mechanisms across the constituency.

The MLA issued clear directions that snow-bound, remote, and vulnerable areas must be accorded top priority. He instructed all departments to ensure adequate availability of manpower, modern machinery, fuel, medicines, and other essential supplies well in advance. Dr. Wani stressed that winter preparedness is not a routine administrative exercise but a major responsibility directly linked to public welfare, adding that any negligence or delay in this regard would not be tolerated.

Reviewing snow clearance arrangements, Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani informed the meeting that a Winter Control Room has been established to ensure effective coordination among departments and to facilitate a swift response during emergencies. He stated that central snow clearance machinery has already been positioned in Beerwah, while additional machinery has been deployed in Magam this year to strengthen the snow removal mechanism. He further announced that snow clearance centres have been established in both Magam and Beerwah, ensuring faster and more efficient restoration of road connectivity during snowfall and minimizing inconvenience to the public.

The SDM Beerwah briefed the meeting on the current status of winter preparedness and outlined the coordination framework among various departments. Officers from health, power development, public works, food and supplies, education, and other sectors presented detailed action plans, highlighting available resources and contingency measures to deal with possible challenges such as heavy snowfall, power outages, road blockages, and disruption of essential services.

Dr. Wani also stressed the need to keep helplines functional round the clock, ensure timely dissemination of information to the public, and maintain an effective and quick response mechanism. He specifically directed officials to prioritize the needs of senior citizens, patients, pregnant women, students, and other vulnerable sections of society during the winter months.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to public welfare, the MLA assured full support from his office to all departments in addressing any challenges that may arise during the winter season. He called upon officials to work with dedication, accountability, and a people-centric approach. The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to ensure that the winter season remains safe, well-managed, and as hassle-free as possible for the residents of the Beerwah Assembly Constituency.
