Budgam: A young labourer died in a road accident in the Ichama Saidnar area on Wednesday after a load carrier overturned, officials said.
The victim, a 26-year-old resident of Kokerbagh Khag, sustained critical injuries when the vehicle he was travelling in lost control and skidded off the road before turning turtle. He was reportedly seated in the rear portion of the goods vehicle at the time of the incident.
He was first shifted to Sub-District Hospital Magam, where doctors provided emergency treatment. Given the seriousness of his condition, he was referred to JVC Hospital Srinagar and later taken to SKIMS Soura for advanced medical care. However, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival, hospital sources said.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated necessary legal proceedings to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. [KNT]
