Bandipora: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Bandipora-1, in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship and Management Development Programme (EMDP) Division, Ministry of MSME, Government of India, inaugurated a 7-Day Entrepreneurship & Skill Development Programme on Livestock-Based Entrepreneurship for Youth Empowerment, scheduled from 7th to 13th January 2026.
The programme aims to nurture entrepreneurial spirit among rural youth and women by equipping them with practical skills, scientific knowledge, and business insights related to livestock-based enterprises. Participants from various villages of Bandipora district are actively participating, reflecting a growing aspiration for self-employment through livestock farming.
The training programme is being coordinated by Dr. Nazir Ahmad Mir, SMS (Animal Science), KVK Bandipora-1, who emphasized that livestock-based entrepreneurship offers strong opportunities for employment generation, income enhancement, and rural development.
The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Tariq Sultan, Head, KVK Bandipora-1, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of skill-based training in empowering rural youth. He encouraged trainees to adopt modern technologies and benefit from government schemes supporting agripreneurship.
Dr. Tahir Saleem, SMS Vegetable Science also addressed the participants and motivated rural youth and women to utilize the seven-day programme effectively and convert learning into viable business ventures.
The programme includes expert sessions by specialists from universities and line departments, covering scientific livestock management, enterprise planning, value addition, marketing, and financial support. These sessions proved especially beneficial for rural women, enhancing their confidence and entrepreneurial skills.
The training covers dairy, sheep and fodder development, animal health management, entrepreneurship development, preparation of bankable project reports, and financial linkages through lectures, demonstrations, and interactive sessions.
The initiative reflects KVK Bandipora-1’s commitment to youth empowerment and promotion of sustainable livestock-based entrepreneurship for socio-economic upliftment of rural communities.
