Srinagar: KPDCL has proposed a 20% extra charge on electricity used during and evening peak hours in Kashmir and has submitted the proposal to JERC for approval.
The plan, part of the Time of Day tariff system, excludes only the agriculture sector.
KCCI strongly opposed the move, calling it unfair since power use during these hours is a necessity. The business body also highlighted Kashmir’s poor power reliability, which is far worse than the national average.
No final decision has been taken yet by the regulatory commission.
