Bandipora: The Department of Handicrafts & Handloom on Monday organised a Mega Awareness Programme and Seminar for artisans and weavers at the Municipal Committee Hall, Hajin, Bandipora. The day-long event witnessed an enthusiastic participation of a large number of cooperative members, artisans and weavers.
The programme presided over by Assistant Director Handicrafts & Handloom Bandipora, Mohd Yousuf, aimed at promoting self-reliance among artisans and weavers by sensitising them about various departmental schemes, welfare measures and incentives available to support their craft and livelihood.
Speaking on the occasion, the Handicrafts Training Officer, Block Sumbal, briefed participants about the benefits of flagship schemes and urged the artisan community to take full advantage of government initiatives tailored for their upliftment.
Guest speakers and officers shared insights on skill development, modern techniques, and market-oriented opportunities, encouraging artisans to enhance productivity and competitiveness in the craft sector.
