Srinagar, June 29: To enhance surveillance and maintain order, the police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district have installed a GPS tracking anklet on Mudasir Fayaz, a terror accused who has been released on bail.
Following the directions of the Court, the police took this step to closely monitor Fayaz, who is accused of aiding militancy in Kashmir. The case against him is registered under FIR No: 150 of 2022 and involves charges under Sections 18, 23, 38, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), as well as Sections 7/25 of the Arms Act of PS Chadoora.
The GPS tracking devices allow authorities to meticulously monitor the movements of high-risk offenders, significantly reducing the likelihood of further criminal activities.
“The installation of the GPS tracking anklets ensures that the movements of the accused can be tracked in real time,” the police stated. “This enables us to monitor their entry into prohibited areas or if they attempt to leave the geographical boundaries as set in the court order.”
This measure reflects the ongoing efforts of the police to maintain security and prevent the resurgence of militancy in the region.
