Srinagar: The introduction of drone technology for spraying fertilisers in Kashmir is set to revolutionise the agriculture sector.
A demonstration showcasing IFFCO Nano Fertiliser (Nano Urea & Nano DAP) in collaboration with Ojas Aerospace Pvt. Ltd. was recently held in Handwara, District Kupwara.
The event, which saw participation from farmers and progressive growers, aimed to introduce them to cutting-edge fertiliser technology: Nano Urea and Nano DAP, along with drone technology.
An official told that one bottle of Nano Urea or Nano DAP can cover 1 acre (8 kanals) when mixed with just 10 litres of water and sprayed using a drone.
“Impressively, the entire spray process is completed within 6 to 7 minutes,” he said, adding that one bottle of Nano Urea and Nano DAP is equivalent to one bag of traditional Urea and DAP. “This innovation promises to revolutionise agricultural practices by enhancing efficiency and reducing labour costs,” he added.
The official further said that the benefits of this technology include increased efficiency, reduced usage, cost-effectiveness and enhanced crop yield, along with environmental benefits and convenience.
District Agriculture Officer, Kupwara, Yuziwander Singh told that this technology offers many advantages, including lower labour costs, reduced use of chemicals, precision farming, AI intervention, and the ability to cover every part of the target crop or tree. “Such technology ensures fast coverage, time-saving and is environmentally friendly,” he said—(KNO)
