Jammu, August 24: The 16 Corps (White Knight Corps) of Indian Army today organised a celebratory function to commemorate the 57 years of establishment of Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) in which 300 families of defence personnel participated.

The programme was named as Samwaad Dil Se.

The function

commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp by Zonal President AWWA.

In a recorded inaugural message for all Wives of Army Personnel, the Central

President AWWA, highlighted the transformation undertaken by AWWA to meet the requirements of the present times.

The measures to empower Army Wives during this year of , “On the Path to Transformation” of the Indian Army by AWWA were elucidated.

The message of The Regional President AWWA, for all
ladies was also read out which emphasised the fact that the Army is one big family and we are all an integral and vital part of it.

To mark this occasion, White Knight Corps had organized a special event,’ titled
“Samvaad…Dil Se…” This was a panel discussion in which two Veer Naris, Two Self made
entrepreneurs and a lady, whose son had recently joined the NDA participated. Two ladies, namely Maj Shalini Negi & Mrs Anjana Devi, are a living testimony to the
courageous Army Wives who after having lost their husbands in the line of duty not only
overcame odds which appeared insurmountable, but also became Women Achievers in their respective fields. These brave ladies recalled their experiences from their childhood till the time they joined the large family of the Indian Army after their marriage. The trauma which
they underwent on learning of the demise of their husbands and how the Army and the
AWWA always stood by them in these testing times was recounted by them. The panelists appreciated the organizational support, culture and the bonhomie of the Indian Army which encourages all ladies to put their best foot forward and be self reliant to meet all challenges which life puts forth. Through this unique panel discussion all ladies in attendance were motivated and re-energized to stand up with pride and be counted as an Army Man’s Wife.

In the run up to this event the White Knight Corps had organized multiple events such
as interaction and felicitation of Veer Naaris, Medical and Eye Check up camps and a special
camp to highlight the need to pledge ones organs for donation. Thus, AWWA while ensuring
the wellbeing of all its family members also puts emphasis on meeting ones moral and social
obligations by pledging to donate organs.

The Zonal President White Knight AWWA, while speaking at the closing address recalled the measures undertaken by the AWWA for the benefit of Army Wives which included organising special skill development courses under the PMKVY 4.0 & the ‘Hunaar Haat’ to showcase the exceptional entrepreneurnal
skills of the ladies. She brought out that an Army Wife should always be proud of the fact that she is married to the “Olive Greens” and that she is part of a much larger family than the one she had left behind after her marriage.

The fact that a true Army Wife is a force who stands firmly besides her Army Man to enable him to perform his noble and selfless task without worrying was appreciated by all who attended this event. The Event also saw 58 talented ladies of White Knight AWWA being awarded and recognised with The Central President AWWA, The Regional President AWWA and The Zonal President AWWA Awards of Excellence and Appreciation for their contribution.
