Budgam: Independent candidate Sameer Ahmad has announced his decision to contest the upcoming Assembly elections from the Budgam constituency, citing the lack of development and neglect of the region as the main reasons behind his decision.
Speaking to the media, Sameer Ahmad said, “Budgam’s lack of development has compelled me to contest the elections. I am contesting as an independent candidate from the Budgam constituency.”
He strongly criticized the National Conference (NC), accusing the party of betraying public trust and failing to deliver on its promises. “The NC manifesto has completely failed. Where are the 200 units of free electricity, the free gas cylinders, and the one lakh jobs they promised? All of it was just empty talk and false assurances. The people of Budgam have been misled and ignored for too long,” Sameer said.
Sameer expressed his confidence in the people of Budgam, saying, “I have full faith in the people here. They will ensure my success because they know I am one of them and will fight for their rights.”
Highlighting the everyday hardships faced by locals, he added, “The people of Budgam are tired. Whenever a tourist or a leader visits, they come for photos and then leave. Look at our roads, look at our hospitals we are struggling with basic amenities. Development has been reduced to mere slogans.”
Sameer Ahmad went on to say that his political journey is rooted in sincerity and service. “The people here are poor and troubled. The youth are unemployed, and this is something I cannot ignore. That is why I have decided to contest the election from Budgam — to take the voice of the people to the Assembly,” he said.
He further emphasized that his decision to enter politics is not driven by personal ambition but by a genuine desire to serve. “My entry into politics is purely for public service. I am not here for power or position. The people are with me; they love and respect me, and I will always stand by them. My only goal is the welfare and development of Budgam’s people,” he said.
The statement comes amid growing public support for Sameer Ahmad’s independent campaign. A massive rally was recently held in Budgam where thousands of people gathered to show solidarity with him. Supporters raised slogans like “Sameer Zindabad!” and expressed admiration for his honesty, simplicity, and deep concern for the common people.
One supporter said, “Sameer Ahmad is a symbol of honesty and humanity. He listens to the people and always stands by them in difficult times. We believe he will bring real change to Budgam.”
The crowd’s enthusiasm reflected the rising public sentiment in favor of independent candidates who represent grassroots voices over traditional political parties.
Sameer Ahmad concluded his address by appealing to the people of Budgam to support his vision of transparent governance, youth empowerment, and genuine progress. “Together, we can make Budgam a model of development, honesty, and hope,” he said.
