Bandipora, June 24: In a concerted effort to combat child labor and ensure the welfare of children and adolescents in the main town of Bandipora and Aloosa, the district administration has launched a comprehensive drive.
This initiative, spearheaded jointly by the Department of Labour and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of Bandipora, is in response to directives from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
The campaign, which saw active participation from Assistant Labour Commissioner Ms. Rabia and Chairperson of CWC Dr. Asima Hassan, along with committee members Hashim Ahmad and Shahnaza Sultan, was also supported by officials from the police department, DCPU (District Child Protection Unit), Childline, and DLSA (District Legal Services Authority).
The primary objective of the campaign was to address the urgent issue of child labor prevalent in various sectors and ensure the well-being of affected children. Through coordinated efforts across multiple departments, several children were successfully rescued from exploitative work conditions during the campaign.
“These children, rescued from difficult circumstances, will now undergo a comprehensive rehabilitation process,” stated Ms. Rabia, Assistant Labour Commissioner. The rehabilitation program aims to provide these children with necessary support and opportunities for their holistic development, ensuring they have access to education, healthcare, and a safe environment.
Dr. Asima Hassan, Chairperson of CWC Bandipora, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in safeguarding children’s rights: “It’s our collective responsibility to protect vulnerable children and ensure they have the chance to grow up in a nurturing environment.”
The campaign highlights the district administration’s commitment to eradicating child labor and promoting child rights, in line with national and international mandates. Moving forward, sustained efforts will be made to prevent the exploitation of children and create a conducive environment where every child can thrive and realize their full potential.
