Srinagar: The All Kashmir Folk Artists Association (AKFAA) has warmly welcomed the approval of the budget for the establishment of additional cultural centres across various districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Approved for the first time in the Union Territory, this historic initiative is being described as a significant milestone towards the promotion, preservation, and revival of the region’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.
In a statement, the Association said that the initiative reflects the present government’s commitment to strengthening cultural infrastructure and empowering artists at the grassroots level.
The proposed cultural centres will provide an effective platform for folk artists and cultural practitioners, helping to safeguard traditional art forms and ensure their transmission to future generations.
The Association also praised the leadership and vision of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah and appreciated his proactive and sensitive approach towards the promotion of arts and the welfare of the cultural community.
Chairman of the Association, Mr. Shah-e-Jahan Ahmad Bhagat stated that the decision has generated renewed hope among folk artists across the Valley and the region as a whole. General Secretary Mr. Fayaz Ahmad Rather said that such initiatives would play a vital role in preserving and strengthening the cultural identity of Jammu and Kashmir.
The All Kashmir Folk Artists Association expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister for this landmark decision and hoped that continued encouragement and support would be extended to the cultural sector in the future.
The Association also expressed hope that more cultural centres would be established in other districts of Jammu and Kashmir in the coming times.
