Budgam: The Agriculture Department, Zone Zanigam, Sub-Division Beerwah, successfully conducted a door-to-door agricultural awareness campaign across several villages of the area with the objective of informing farmers about various government-sponsored agricultural schemes.
The awareness campaign was led by Mr. Shabir Ahmad Jr., Junior Agricultural Extension Officer (Jr. AEO), Zone Zanigam. During the campaign, the villages of Dachan, Moshon, Zabgulla, and Alamguchoo were covered, where farmers and local residents were engaged through direct interaction and provided with necessary information.
During the outreach programme, farmers were briefed in detail about various government agricultural schemes, particularly the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and the Jammu and Kashmir Competitive Improvement Project (JKCIP). Information regarding the benefits of these schemes, eligibility criteria, and application procedures was also shared with the participants.
The primary objective of the awareness drive was to educate farmers about modern and scientific agricultural practices, available government support, and opportunities to enhance agricultural productivity and income. The door-to-door approach enabled farmers to directly raise their queries and receive guidance on the spot.
A large number of farmers and local residents actively participated in the awareness programme and appreciated the efforts of the Agriculture Department for reaching out to them at their doorsteps.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Shabir Ahmad Jr. emphasized the importance of adopting modern and scientific farming techniques. He encouraged farmers to fully avail themselves of government schemes to improve their agricultural output and overall economic condition.
The participating farmers expressed their gratitude to the Agriculture Department, stating that such awareness campaigns are highly beneficial for farmer welfare and agricultural development. Local residents also expressed satisfaction with the department’s timely guidance and continued support.
