Locals of the area while speaking with the media said that the authorities are turning a blind eye towards him as the area lacks basic medical facilities which forces them to travel more than 25 km to reach the hospital.

“The area caters to a population of more than ten thousand people, authorities have started construction of Primary health center in the area in 2016 since that the authorities have failed to complete it,” Zahoor Ahmad Bhat a local resident said.

He also said that the work has been halted for some reasons which is taking a toll on the patients in the area, forcing them to suffer and travel km’s for slightest toothache.

Another local resident Farooq Ahamad Shahri said that the building has become a safe place for drug addicts. “The government has spent crores of rupees for construction of hospital buildings in their area but it seems the funds have been wasted,”.
He also said that the primary health center already constructed there lacks space and has shortage of doctors as well.

The locals said the government seems to be not interested in concluding the work. “The construction work should be completed as soon as possible so that the local population can heave a sigh of relief,” and the
residents of the village said they brought up the matter with the authorities in multiple government-organised events like ‘Back to Village’, etc but no step has been taken in this regard despite multiple assurances, another local, said.

The residents appealed LG Administration and District Administration Bandipora to look into the matter and resolve their genuine grievances as soon as possible.

The Block Medical Officer Hajin, Dr Idress Ahmad, said that they have already raised the issue with the construction agency and are hopeful. “We have raised the issue with the concerned construction company several times, but the construction agency is citing lack of funds. We have also discussed the subject in the recently held block Dewas and are hopeful,” he said.
