Hajin Bandipora: In a significant action against drug trafficking, the police recovered approximately 600 grams of a substance suspected to be charas during a routine naka (checkpoint) check at the Vijpara area of Hajin on Monday.
According to official sources, the contraband was seized from the possession of an accused identified as Mehraj Ud Din Beig, son of Abdul Rashid Beig and a resident of Vijpara.
The recovery was made during a routine inspection aimed at curbing the movement of illegal substances in the area.
Following the seizure, the police registered FIR No. 47/2026 under Sections 8 and 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Hajin.
The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and to identify any potential links to a larger drug trafficking network.
Police officials reiterated their commitment to eradicating the menace of drug abuse and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to narcotics activities.
