GAZA: The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate reported that the number of journalists and media workers who lost their lives in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7 has reached 38.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the syndicate stated, “Since October 7, 25 Palestinian journalists and 13 media workers have tragically perished as a result of Israeli airstrikes.”
The syndicate added, “Over this same time frame, there have been direct assaults on the residences of 35 journalists, resulting in the deaths of numerous family members, including the tragic strike on the home of Al-Jazeera journalist Wael Dahdouh, which claimed the lives of his wife, two of his children, and his young grandchild.”
It further emphasized that “these acts of violence are part of a longstanding pattern of Israel’s lethal targeting of Palestinian journalists.
The Israeli military has taken the lives of 55 Palestinian journalists between 2000 and 2022, including the well-known case of Shireen Abu Akleh in May 2022.”
The syndicate also highlighted that Israel has cut off all communication with the Gaza Strip, including internet, telephone, and mobile services, which remain heavily disrupted and restricted.
These actions, when combined, are aimed at enabling Israel to carry out its actions away from the scrutiny of the global media.
