Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry is also the son of Sultan Bashiruddin Mahmood, a declared terrorist and aide to Osama bin Laden
The video from the briefing shows the journalist asking him about allegations levelled against former Prime Minister Imran Khan, such as him being a “national security threat”, “anti-state” and acting “at the hands of Delhi”.
The clip shows Absa Komal pressing Chaudhry on the allegations only to be met with a cheeky wink from the Director General of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations.
A user on X wrote, “This is openly happening in the presence of a camera. Democracy is over in Pakistan. PM is a puppet,” while another wrote, “A meme of a nation.”
“He’s not a professional soldier,” one user posted on X.
Another X user wrote, “This shows how unprofessional their army is. How can someone in uniform wink like this publicly?”
A third added, “And he is the General of the Pakistan Army… No wonder the state of affairs they are in.”

ChaudHaryana’s background has also come under scrutiny, being the son of Sultan Bashiruddin Mahmood, a declared terrorist and aide to Osama bin Laden.
The latest controversy comes as Chaudhry has ramped up his attacks on Khan, labelling him a “narcissist” and “mentally ill” and alleging Indian involvement in amplifying anti-army rhetoric online.
