Pulwama: In a significant crackdown on forest-related crimes, Pulwama Police have dismantled an illegal timber smuggling operation in the Sangerwani area, reinforcing their firm stance against environmental violations.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police teams, in coordination with the Forest Department, carried out a swift raid at Badi Behak. During the operation, officials recovered four raw timber logs and six processed wooden beams concealed inside a kotha.
Authorities have identified the accused involved in the illegal activity, and legal proceedings have been initiated. A case under FIR No. 49/2026 has been registered at Police Station Rajpora under relevant provisions of law, and further investigation is ongoing.
Officials stated that the operation reflects a zero-tolerance policy towards forest exploitation and unlawful timber trade. Police have also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or illegal activities to help safeguard natural resources.
