Srinagar: Authorities in Kashmir have stepped up inspections of fuel and LPG supply chains amid concerns linked to the prevailing geopolitical situation affecting petroleum availability.
The Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) said it has intensified monitoring to ensure uninterrupted supply of petroleum products across the Valley.
The action comes as authorities seek to prevent disruption in essential fuel distribution and curb malpractices during a period of heightened demand and uncertainty.
According to official figures, 2,427 inspections have been carried out across Kashmir since March 19, 2026.
During these checks, 14 cases of hoarding and six cases of black marketing were detected.
Authorities also seized 108 LPG cylinders and imposed fines amounting to ₹40,500 in connection with violations.
Oil Marketing Companies have been asked to maintain adequate stock levels at distribution points to ensure smooth supply to consumers.
To address public concerns, helplines have been put in place, allowing residents to report irregularities or lodge complaints with designated officers. [KNT]
