New Delhi: The Supreme Court has directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to prevent the “flip-flops” it exhibited regarding the NEET-UG 2024 examination. On Friday, August 2, the Court emphasized that such inconsistencies in a national exam harm students’ interests.
Despite significant controversy over allegations of paper leaks and other irregularities, the Supreme Court decided not to cancel the 2024 NEET-UG medical entrance exam. The verdict stressed the importance of rectifying deficiencies within the exam system.
Highlighting various deficiencies in the NTA’s structural processes, the Court stated, “We cannot afford this for the betterment of the students.” It called on the Centre to address these issues within the year to prevent recurrence.
While noting the leak was confined to Patna and Hazaribagh, the Supreme Court found no systemic breach of the NEET-UG 2024 papers.
This is a developing story, and further details are awaited.
