Samba: A wave of panic gripped residents of Chandli village in Sumb block of Samba district after an unknown electronic transmitter-like device was discovered in the area, with rumours quickly spreading that it could be used for surveillance or other nefarious purposes.
The situation created widespread fear among locals, with many suspecting the device posed a security threat.
Acting promptly on the information, Samba Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) directed the in-charge of Ghagwal Police Station, along with a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, to immediately reach the spot. The team examined the device, took it into safe custody, and initiated a thorough investigation.
Police officials clarified that the object was a Meteorological Department transmitter which is recovered and secured, and there is no reason for the public to panic. Preliminary inquiries are underway to determine the exact nature and origin of the device.
Authorities have appealed to citizens to avoid spreading rumours and to immediately report any suspicious objects to the nearest police station.
