Jammu: Mughal road, connecting Shopian with Rajouri-Poonch districts, has been closed till further orders.
Officials told that the order to close the thoroughfare has been has been passed by the deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal (IAS) amid deteriorating road conditions due to frost and sub zero temperature, rendering it unsafe for vehicular movement.
“Dy-Superintendent of Police Traffic Rajouri/Poonch (Hars) Rajouri vide letter No: DY-SP/TRF/MISC/25/39-41 dated: 15-01-2025 has intimated that the condition of Mughal Road has been deteriorating due to frost and sub zero temperature, rendering it unsafe for vehicular movement,” reads the order, a copy of which lies with GNS.
In view of the prevailing weather condition and as a precautionary measures to avoid any accident or untoward incidents, it is deemed necessary to close the Mughal road temporarily for traffic, the order says.
