New Delhi: In a significant move to strengthen security in Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has granted in-principle approval for the formation of 20 new battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The decision is aimed at bolstering counter-insurgency operations and overall security preparedness in the region.
The additional battalions will add over 20,000 personnel to the existing CRPF strength in the Union Territory. The deployment comes in the wake of security threats, including the April 22 militant attack in Pahalgam and on going ‘Operation Sindoor’.
