The announcement came through an official communiqué issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, which also confirmed that the resignation of Brigadier (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd.) as LG of Ladakh has been accepted.

Kavinder Gupta, a prominent political figure from Jammu, is expected to assume charge in Leh shortly, marking a significant political appointment in the strategically important Union Territory.

In related developments, the President also named Asim Kumar Ghosh as the new Governor of Haryana and appointed veteran politician and former Union Minister Ashok Gajapati Raju as the Governor of Goa.

“The above appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices,” the statement from the President’s Secretariat read. [KNT]
