Tehran: A senior Iranian security official has warned that Tehran is prepared to launch a “comprehensive defense” if the ongoing ceasefire is breached, amid growing tensions over alleged violations.
The official claimed that the world is witnessing repeated violations of the fragile truce, accusing Israel of continuing military actions while the ceasefire remains in place.
The official stated that any escalation, including alleged strikes on Iran and Lebanon, risks undermining the agreement and increasing pressure on the United States, which is seen as a key party to the ceasefire framework.
“If the ceasefire is broken, the Zionist regime will bear full responsibility, and the aggressor will be punished,” the official said, warning that Iran’s response could be swift and decisive.
The statement also linked the situation to the recent reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, suggesting that continued stability in the region depends on adherence to the ceasefire. Any violation, the official warned, could disrupt the fragile calm and impact regional security, including vital maritime routes.
Iran further called on mediating countries to intervene and ensure compliance with the agreement, emphasizing that failure to do so could jeopardize ongoing diplomatic efforts.
The warning underscores the fragile nature of the ceasefire, with tensions remaining high and the risk of renewed escalation still looming despite ongoing negotiations.
