Tehran: A senior security source told Press TV that Iran’s sustained pressure and firm stance compelled Israel to halt its attacks on Beirut amid ongoing regional tensions.
According to the source, Tehran had made the cessation of Israeli strikes on Lebanon a key precondition for engaging in temporary ceasefire negotiations with the United States. Emphasizing unity within the “resistance front,” Iran warned that continued attacks could derail the diplomatic process entirely.
The source revealed that an Iranian delegation’s planned visit to Islamabad was postponed multiple times due to the ongoing strikes, underscoring the seriousness of Tehran’s position. Iran also signaled that it was prepared to withdraw from the talks if Israeli operations in Lebanon persisted.
As a result of this pressure, the United States was reportedly compelled to intervene and push Israel to suspend its attacks on Beirut.
The source further stressed that the continuation of negotiations remains strictly conditional. Any renewed Israeli strikes on Beirut or the Dahieh suburb would lead to an immediate termination of talks.
