Jammu, Jan 31: A gangster suffered injuries in police firing while another wanted criminal was nabbed in the Miran Sahib area here in the city outskirts.
Police said acting on information that a hardcore criminal (gangster) namely Paramjit Singh alias Jungi, resident of Draptey, R S Pura along with one unknown criminal wandering in the area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Miran Sahib with arms and ammunition intending to commit serious crime a police party rushed to the spot.
But the hardcore criminal fired upon the police party and in retaliation, the police party also fired in self-defence. During the exchange of firing, the hardcore criminal received a bullet injury on his leg and got injured.
He was shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment, said police.
They said that one unidentified associate of the criminal was also apprehended by the police. Later on he was identified as a wanted criminal Arjun Kumar alias Billu, a resident of Akhnoor, at present Salehar, Kothey, Arnia, Jammu.
“Arms and ammunition were also recovered by police from the gangsters while a case has been registered under relevant sections,” said police.–(UNI)
