In an inspiring story of determination, discipline, and creativity, 17-year-old Syeda Kubra, a Class 12 student from Kurhama in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, has achieved a remarkable milestone by authoring her debut fiction novel, Cursed Love, in just 16 months.
Daughter of Syed Abdul Rouf and Bilkees Fazli, Syeda Kubra has demonstrated that age is no barrier to success. Alongside preparing for her Class 12 examinations, she devoted herself to writing her first novel, successfully balancing academics, sports, and her passion for literature.
Titled Cursed Love, the novel is the culmination of more than a year of dedication, creativity, and perseverance. Inspired by her love for reading and storytelling, Kubra carefully developed the plot, characters, and narrative over sixteen months, turning her imagination into a completed work of fiction.
Speaking about her journey, Kubra said that writing Cursed Love required patience, consistency, and faith in her abilities.
“Writing this book has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I wanted to create a story that readers could connect with while proving that young people can achieve their dreams if they remain committed to them,” she said.
Her parents, Syed Abdul Rouf and Bilkees Fazli, expressed immense pride in their daughter’s accomplishments, saying they always encouraged her to pursue her interests alongside her education.
Teachers and residents of Kurhama have also congratulated the young author, describing her achievement as an inspiration for students across Jammu and Kashmir. They said Syeda Kubra has shown that with dedication and hard work, young minds can excel in multiple fields simultaneously.
Educationists believe her success sends a powerful message to aspiring writers and sportspersons alike—that determination, discipline, and self-belief can help overcome every obstacle.
As Syeda Kubra looks forward to introducing Cursed Love to readers, she hopes to continue writing more books while pursuing higher education and maintaining her sporting career.
Her inspiring journey—from a National-level Wushu player and bronze medalist to the author of Cursed Love at the age of just 17—stands as a shining example of talent, perseverance, and youthful ambition.
