Srinagar: The Border Security Force Kashmir Frontier on Monday released details of its year-long operational performance along the Line of Control, claiming that all infiltration attempts in 2025-26 were neutralised through coordinated action with the Indian Army and other security agencies.

According to officials, the force has been manning and dominating the 343-kilometre stretch of the LoC in the Kashmir Valley while also securing key installations and maintaining law and order support across the hinterland. BSF units have additionally remained deployed in north Kashmir’s Baramulla and Handwara areas in anti-infiltration roles, escorting security convoys and maintaining public movement safety.

Officials said the most high-intensity operation during the year was Ops Sindoor, conducted in early May, in which BSF units and Army formations carried out artillery fire assaults on enemy posts and suspected launching infrastructure across the LoC. The operation reportedly resulted in the destruction of multiple forward structures and damage to supply nodes being allegedly used for infiltration.

During the year, eight militants were killed in four infiltration attempts, while 22 joint operations were carried out in coordination with the Army, Rashtriya Rifles, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF. Officials said arms and ammunition recovered included assault rifles, pistols, grenade launchers, hand grenades and large quantities of ammunition.

The force also reported sustained intelligence monitoring of launching infrastructure along the border with close watch maintained on multiple suspected infiltration hubs.

Following the deadly attack on tourists in Pahalgam earlier this year, BSF counter-insurgency teams were deployed in Gulmarg to secure tourist movement alongside local police. Officials said specialised teams continued operations in coordination with police to prevent further incidents.

In a separate operation, BSF units assisted in cordoning off infiltration corridors in the Mahadev range during Ops Mahadev, culminating in the killing of a militant group in July.

During the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, BSF deployed 128 companies across Anantnag, Kulgam, Srinagar and Ganderbal, supplemented by rescue teams, medical centres and veterinary camps to support pilgrims and pony operators.

The force also expanded deployment of women personnel in forward areas and checkpoints to monitor cross-border movement channels and strengthen ground intelligence along the LoC.

Officials said technology upgradation remained a key focus this year, pointing to new training facilities and investments in drone counter-measures, cyber preparedness and surveillance systems. Efforts were also made to improve living facilities at high-altitude forward posts.

In the civic domain, BSF said it conducted skill programs, education tours, health camps, blood donation drives and awareness drives in border villages aimed at youth participation and social outreach.

The force also outlined its disaster response role, including rescue operations during landslides and heavy snowfall in north Kashmir, with several locals and tourists rescued during weather-related emergencies.

Inspector General Ashok Yadav said the force remained committed to security and civilian safety, adding that public welfare would continue to remain a priority in operations across Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
