Srinagar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) arrived in Srinagar on Thursday to review the preparedness for the upcoming assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir. Representatives from various political parties gathered at the Sher-I-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) to meet with the ECI team.
The full commission, including Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioners, reached Srinagar airport this morning and headed directly to the SKICC for stakeholder meetings. These stakeholders included representatives from multiple political parties, such as the National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, among others.
Senior BJP leader Ranbir Singh Pathania, speaking to the media at the SKICC, expressed hopes for significant voter turnout. “We want free and fair elections and a massive turnout of people to elect their own government for the betterment of Jammu and Kashmir,” he stated—(KNO).
