Free access to advanced treatments, including thrombolysis to ease burden on patients: MS Dr. Masrat Iqbal

Bandipora: District Hospital Bandipora is set to introduce general cardiology consultations, an initiative which will bring specialized heart care closer to residents of Bandipora

Medical Superintendent District Hospital Bandipora, Dr Masarat Iqbal Wani said that the general cardiology consultations will be started within the next 15-20 days which will benefit residents of Bandipora who previously had to travel long distances for such services.

He said that Dr. Shahood Ajaz Kakroo, a highly qualified cardiologist with a DM in Cardiology, recently joined the hospital as a Medical Officer whose expertise will be utilized to provide advanced consultations and treatment for heart-related ailments.

Dr Masrat said that this is a major step forward in providing specialized healthcare to the people of Bandipora.

He said that the hospital is committed to make essential medicines and treatments available free of cost. “We aim to ease the financial burden on underprivileged patients by ensuring all necessary cardiac medicines are stocked which includes thrombolysis injections, which cost ₹25,000 in the market but are provided free of charge at our facility,” he added.

Dr. Wani said that so far eight patients have already been successfully thrombolyzed this month. Thrombolysis is a critical procedure for treating heart attacks by dissolving blood clots, and having this facility available locally is a lifesaver for patients in remote areas.
