Bandipora: During Friday prayers at Gamdoo Sonawari in Bandipora, Hujatul Islam Syed Mohammad Hussain Safavi expressed strong support for the ongoing anti-drug campaign led by the Lt. Governor J&K, Manoj Sinha.
Addressing the congregation, Safavi said that efforts to curb drug abuse are necessary and must be strengthened at all levels. He, however, raised concern over the issuance of licenses for liquor shops, urging authorities to halt such permissions and impose a complete ban on alcohol in Kashmir.
The cleric also called on the public to play an active role in tackling the menace of substance abuse. He urged people to identify individuals involved in drug-related activities, socially distance from them, and promptly inform the concerned authorities.
His remarks come amid growing concerns over rising drug abuse cases in the region, with religious and community leaders increasingly advocating for collective action to address the issue.
