Ajay Devgn and Tabu’s much-anticipated romantic saga, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, directed by Neeraj Pandey, has made a modest start at the domestic box office, earning ₹2 crore on its opening day. This marks the 10th collaboration between the two stars.
Despite the star power of Ajay Devgn and Tabu, the film’s initial earnings are modest in comparison to their past collaborations. For instance, their 2015 crime thriller Drishyam opened at ₹5.8 crore, while its sequel, Drishyam 2, earned ₹15.38 crore on its first day. Their 2017 comedy Golmaal Again achieved a remarkable ₹30 crore opening, benefiting from its Diwali release. Even their 2019 romantic drama De De Pyaar De and last year’s action thriller Bholaa saw higher first-day collections at ₹8.5 crore and ₹11 crore, respectively.
Comparatively, the other Bollywood release this week, Ulajh, a spy thriller starring Janhvi Kapoor and Gulshan Devaiah, garnered ₹1.10 crore on its opening day.
The film also features Jimmy Sheirgill, Shantanu Maheshwari, and Saiee Manjrekar, weaving a musical love story spanning two decades from 2002 to 2023. Initially slated for a July 5 release to compete with Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s action thriller Kill, the film’s release was postponed at the request of exhibitors and the distribution fraternity to avoid clashing with the highly anticipated Kalki 2898 AD.
