Bandipora, January 16, 2024: In a proactive response to a distressing viral video, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Bandipora took immediate action, visited Inderkoot Sumbal where three sisters sought help. Emphasizing that monetary aid is not the ultimate solution, the CWC provided counseling to the family and informed them about child protection schemes ensuring the girls’ proper care and empowerment.
The Child Welfare Committee team and Human trafficking unit Bandipora on Tuesday jointly launched a child labour drive in Inderkoot village in Sumbal town of Bandipora district.
The drive was launched on the directions of Chairperson Dr, Asima Hassan During the drive, the team members of CWC Bandipora and Human trafficking unit Bandipora visited the Inderkoot Sumbal Village.
The CWC Bandipora in collaboration with the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit Bandipora, initiated a comprehensive drive against children in street situations under the directions of CWC chairperson Dr Asima Hassan alongwith CWC team members focused on the main town of Bandipora, the drive included spot counseling sessions for both child laborers and the owners who had engaged them.
This concerted effort aims not only to rescue and rehabilitate children in vulnerable situations but also to raise awareness about child protection schemes, offering sustainable solutions that enable young individuals to stand on their own feet.
The CWC’s decisive action reflects a commitment to safeguarding the welfare and future of children in the region.
