Tehran: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has claimed that its air defence units successfully intercepted and destroyed multiple incoming missiles over Qazvin province amid the ongoing conflict.
According to a statement released by IRGC Public Relations, five Tomahawk missiles and one cruise missile were shot down “a few hours ago” using newly deployed integrated air defence systems. The missiles were reportedly intercepted in the skies above Qazvin before reaching their intended targets.
The IRGC said that the missiles were launched by US and Israeli forces and were aimed at key civilian infrastructure, though independent verification of these claims remains limited.
The development comes as the conflict between Iran and the US-Israeli coalition continues to escalate, with both sides reporting strikes, interceptions, and retaliatory operations across multiple regions.
The reported interception highlights Iran’s continued emphasis on strengthening its air defence capabilities as the war enters a critical phase, with rising concerns over attacks on infrastructure and civilian areas.
